Call us to talk about Boat Safaris.
Many safari destinations in Botswana are based around one of Botswana's three main northern rivers; the Chobe, Linyanti and Okavango. Lodges in these regions offer the chance to explore the bush by river as well as by land, offering a welcome change of pace from the 4x4 game drive and a different perspective of the bush. A river cruise allows you to get up close to many of the larger animals such as elephants, hippos and crocodiles, as well as being a good way to see many river-dwelling species of birds. In addition, when the waters are high in the Okavango Delta, a motorboat trip allows visitors to access parts of the reserves that cannot be reached by vehicle, for a truly remote exploration. In some locations, the boat safari is the main activity, as the roads are either too flooded or road network too small to use for game drives.
Boat safaris usually take the form of a three to four hour cruise at leisurely pace in an open-sided motor-launch. Your boat will be stocked with drinks and your [cont.]
guide will be on hand to answer any questions and point out anything you may have missed.
If you prefer to travel in total tranquillity while in these locations you can always choose to go by mokoro in many cases, particularly in the Okavango Delta, another great way to see the waterways, or maybe stay on terra firma and try your hand at fly-fishing.
